Everyday yoga poses

March 23, 2012 by admin in Health

There are a variety of yoga poses that can be performed on a daily basis, even while you are busy with other things. This is a good way to add more fitness and relaxation to your routine without committing to an entire session at the gym or yoga class. These exercises are easy to perform at the office, while watching television or while walking around town.

Cat-cow pose:
The cat-cow pose is a good way to release tension and stretch your back muscles. This is performed by getting on your hands and knees on the floor. You then rotate between arching your back and raising your shoulders so that your back is inverted.

Downward dog:
The downward dog is an everyday yoga pose that is easily performed in many settings. You place your hands and feet on the ground so that your body makes an upside-down “V.” You can then push back and forth from your ankles to your hands to create a deep stretch in your arms and legs. This is good for stretching, releasing tension and getting a small workout.

Tree pose:
The tree pose is another yoga pose that can be done to help increase your level of balance. You stand up and place your hands together in a prayer pose near your heart. You then slide one foot up the other leg with the knee facing outwards. You end up looking like a tree. Hold this pose for as long as you can before releasing and switching legs.
