Eating a healthy diet requires the addition of fat. With so many suggestions to limit fat intake, determining the best fat for good health is not always simple. Understanding the best fats to maintain good health and add to the diet is a key part of eating well-balanced meals.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids:Omega 3 fatty acids are a healthy fat that is primarily found in fatty fish and other seafood selections. This type of a fat is linked to improved cholesterol levels and triglycerides, making it an ideal fat for those who are struggling with high cholesterol levels. It is considered a heart healthy fat due to the impact it provides to improving the state of the heart.Though the fat is healthy, it should not be the main source of dietary fat intake because only a portion of the fat is used by the body and a healthy body requires more than just this form of fat for proper functioning.

Unsaturated Fats:

Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are the types of fat that should make up the bulk of fat intake. The fats are good for the heart and help reduce clogged arteries while giving the benefits needed from fat, such as healthy brain development in young children or the movement of fat soluble vitamins through the body.

Unsaturated fats are found in seafood, nuts, olive oil, soybeans, sunflower seeds and similar foods. It is a part of a healthy diet and is necessary for proper functioning.

Fat is an essential part of life. Men, women and children need fat to get the most of out vitamins, properly grow and improve health. The key is limiting the fats to those that will help improve health rather than create more problems.
