Cabbage Soup Diet: Tips for success
Part 4 of our four-part series on the Cabbage Soup Diet.
No one said that dieting is easy. Like with starting any new diet, the first three days will be the hardest. You may feel tired and will be hungry. After Day 3 your body will adjust itself to eating less, you start feeling better and seeing the results. Here are some tips for enjoying your dieting:
Follow the 7 day plan. Do not give up.
Experiment with foods. Think creatively. Use the recipes on this website.
Use spices and flavors to enhance the taste of the dishes you eat.
Steam, bake, and grill your foods.
Make smaller batches of soup, keep it fresh.
Enjoy cooking; think creatively, experiment with the soup recipe.
Remember, the cabbage soup is not a magic formula for weight loss, but it sure fills you up and is low in calories.
Do not overeat. Remember, the goal of this diet is to make you eat less, not more. Limit your intake of rice on Day 7, skip the potato on Day 2 if you can, eat fewer bananas on Day 4. When hungry eat a bowl of soup, then wait about 20 minutes before eating anything else.
If you absolutely cannon stand any of the cabbage soup ingredients, you do not have to use them in your recipe. Again, experiment with the recipes, substitute ingredients, enhance the flavors. For example, use more or less cabbage, depending on whether you like your soup thicker or thinner. If you don’t like the celery – don’t use it!
Ask yourself WHY? Why are you doing this diet? You are doing it for yourself, because you are probably tired of being overweight and want to get into a better shape. Do not give up!
If for some reason, you cheated on your diet, went out for dinner, ate something you were not supposed to eat – do not give up. Go back to the diet next day. Start the next day where you left off.
Do not cheat – remember, you are doing it for yourself.
Take multivitamins.
Drink plenty of water.
Exercise moderately.
Don’t think about it as being on a diet. Think of it as eating healthy for a week, increasing your consumption of fruits and vegetables, eating soup that is good for you, and reducing fat and sugar intake for a week.
Watch your sodium intake, as we try to use more salt with the vegetables to enhance their taste.
Enjoy it! Weight yourself and notice how the clothes fit better!
