How to boil eggs
For a perfect hard-boiled egg follow these time-tested instructions:
- Place large eggs in a large saucepan in one single layer. Add enough cold water to cover all the eggs.
- Bring water to a boil. When you start seeing big bubbles, remove the saucepan from heat.
- Let eggs stand in hot water for 15 minutes. Drain.
- Place eggs in ice water and let them cool. Drain.
- To peel eggs, crack them and roll between your hands. Peel and rinse under running water if necessary. Pat try with a paper towel.
You will end up with perfect eggs without unsightly green color around the yolk.
If using extra-large eggs, let them stand in hot water for 18 minutes.
