How to boil eggs

Hard boiled eggsFor a perfect hard-boiled egg follow these time-tested instructions:

  1. Place large eggs in a large saucepan in one single layer. Add enough cold water to cover all the eggs.
  2. Bring water to a boil. When you start seeing big bubbles, remove the saucepan from heat.
  3. Let eggs stand in hot water for 15 minutes. Drain.
  4. Place eggs in ice water and let them cool. Drain.
  5. To peel eggs, crack them and roll between your hands. Peel and rinse under running water if necessary. Pat try with a paper towel.

You will end up with perfect eggs without unsightly green color around the yolk.

If using extra-large eggs, let them stand in hot water for 18 minutes.
