Organize your own Summer Olympics

July 26, 2012 by admin in Homepage Slider, Lifestyle

If you are not going to make it to London this summer, here is how to hold your own Summer Olympics at home!

For active kids and adults, there is nothing better than holding competitive games right in your backyard! If you have a decent sized pool, you can hold freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events. With a reasonable backyard and a few laps you could do 100 or 400 meter races or relays. An old sandpit could be used for long jump. The kids could challenge Dad’s legendary Greek Wrestling skills! If space permits, a basketball hoop and a ping-pong table in the back yard will keep the whole family active this summer.

Get the neighbourhood kids and adults together in several teams for your own weekly summer Olympics! Even though some of these don’t officially qualify as Olympics games, you will have hours of fun with Bocce balls, badminton, and Frisbee competitions. The best thing is you only need as many as two players to compete! To keep the spirits competitive, do not forget to keep the score, and award the prizes.
