The sunny Caribbean is the perfect spot to relax, unwind and relieve yourself of the hectic real world. Here’s a stress-free guide to five great Caribbean locales from which to choose for your island getaway:

Puerto Rico:

As an unincorporated U.S. territory, Puerto Rico allows Americans the chance to jet off to a tropical island sans passport. Soak up the rays on any of Puerto Rico’s beaches, hike past waterfalls in the rainforest, or stroll historic Old San Juan’s blue cobblestone streets.

Aruba:

Go Dutch in this constituent country of the Netherlands, which enjoys a nearly rain-free climate. Take a tranquil respite along the secluded windward coast, or amp up your activity on the vibrant west coast. Popular spots include Malmok Beach for snorkeling and Palm Beach for the glamorous life.

Jamaica:

Drench yourself in Jamaica’s sun and hospitality while taking a taste of island favorites such as Blue Mountain coffee and jerk chicken. Having passed from Spanish to British hands, this locale south of Cuba is now an independent country. The hot and humid climate invites you to sprawl on the sand, or take a leisurely fishing expedition for tuna, mackerel, or kingfish.

St. Croix:

The largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, breezy St. Croix retains elements of its Spanish and French backgrounds. It is home of the Cruzan Rum Distillery, producing such spirits as Bacardi Rum. Its waters are a paradise for snorkers and scuba divers alike.

Bermuda:

Known for its near-perfect weather, sheltered from hurricanes and rarely experiencing rain, Bermuda is a true island gem. Britian’s oldest colony boasts unique pink sand beaches and a blend of Afro-Caribbean and colonial culture.

After you’ve decided on your Caribbean vacation, there’s nothing to do but relax and enjoy!
